Art in Healthcare is a charity and has been working in Scotland since 1991. Our vision is ‘Art for every healthcare setting in Scotland’ and our mission is to use visual art to improve health and wellbeing. We value putting the person at the centre of their own health and wellbeing, humanising healthcare environments and the positive health and wellbeing impact of the visual arts. We also value quality, innovation and professionalism and the ideas and ambitions of artists, without whom our work would not be possible.
Little as we know about the way in which we are affected by form, by colour, and light, we do know this: that they have an actual physical effect. Variety of form and brilliancy of colour in the objects presented to patients, are actual means of recovery. Florence Nightingale 1860
TITLE: Early Career Curator
Fee of £1050.00 [5-6 days of activity]
We are looking to curate a series of exhibitions that can be selected by healthcare settings. We would like to work with two early-career curators to develop four such exhibitions. You will have the freedom to curate from the full collection and we encourage you to develop an exhibition of your choice. You will be supported by Art in Healthcare’s Curator.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who would like to gain experience within an arts organisation. The purpose of the role is to become familiar with the art collection, and to work with the rest of the team to increase opportunities for the public to engage with it. You will also support the administrative aspects of the charity, such as co-ordinating on-line sales, helping with events and co-ordinating weekly classes.
