Born in Galashiels in 1956, Davidson initially trained as a graphic designer at the Cumbria College of Art and Design, 1974-77. He worked as a freelance graphic designer for several years before rediscovering printmaking, particularly lino- printing, in 1984. However, there is evidence in his earlier career of the finely judged colour combinations characteristic of his printed pieces. He has exhibited extensively around Scotland and the north of England in both solo and mixed exhibitions, producing over 100 prints, linocuts and etchings.
