Having studied at the Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, Dunbar graduated with an MA in 1994. She has since exhibited at the Frames Gallery in Perth and the Long Byre Gallery in Woodend Barns, Banchory. In 1993, she won the Post Office Purchase Award for Paintings in Hospitals with her painting 'Tuscany Hill'.
