Born in Scotland, 1972, Cargill graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 1993. He has been commissioned by the French Institute (Geprges Perec Season) in 1992. Won John Milne Purvis Prize in 1993. Exhibited throughout Scotland. 'Permanent Bloom' is one of a series of paintings inspired by literature ranging from Chekhov to Perec and aspires towards a Matisse-like quality. Cargill's semi-abstract paintings contain images of places and forms observed in reality and dreams. These images are reflected and repeated to create a rhythmic dynamic in his paintings.
