Mary Paton (1920-1990) was born in Ayrshire. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art under Gillies, McTaggart and Rosoman. The artist spent most of her later life living near Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire and the landscape in this area inspired many of her paintings, including gardens and floral and bird studies.
