Thank you to artist Lenny Lane for very generously gifting this artwork to the Art in Healthcare Collection.

'A Year in Trees' series, from which December and January II are a part of, constitute a study in emulating the themes and colour palettes of great artists like W.H. Cooper and The Canadian Group of Seven. This series of trees makes particular reference to the rural environment of Alberta, Canada where I reside. From the low winter sun that casts long shadows, to the reflective colours that change on trees throughout the passing months and season, each print brings its own character and mood. Each print is taken from the perspective of being inside, amongst the trees, and looking out. This allows me to alternate the tonal range of the tree as light is filtered coming into the wood'. - Lenny Lane

Lenny Lane has been creating lino prints since he was a student at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland in 1986. He picked up the nickname 'Lino Lenny' from a good friend and colleague and that name has stuck with him and his craft ever since.

Lino Lenny prints have since found their way to beautiful homes and happy collectors across Europe, Scandinavia, Canada and Australia.
