Patsy studied painting in Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland. From there she spent some months in Florence on an RSA scholarship which was a very productive time, she says, and gave her a taste for the sun. She completed her Masters degree in Barcelona in 2000 and has spent significant periods of time abroad, living and working in countries including Australia, Spain, Berlin and America.
Patsy has worked with aerial artists for some years now, as she has an interest in suspension, weightlessness and the human figure, which also drives her underwater work. She aims to make drawings and paintings that give feelings of energy and freedom by using models that can be seen to represent these qualities, including aerial artists, trampolinists, freerunners and swimmers."Swing Low" was one of the first drawings made from using aerial artists as models.
