Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925-2006) was a self-taught artist and pioneer of concrete poetry. This piece is a typical example of his visual poetry and witty play on words.
A patient at a hospital where this work was on display shared: “Whilst staying in the Edinburgh Royal after a transplant operation I used to wander the corridors at night enjoying the art. I particularly fell in love with a piece called AEIO Blue”.
