Willie Rodger (1930-2018) was born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland in 1930. He attended Glasgow School of Art between 1948-53. Rodger’s primary medium was wood and linocuts, but he also designed stained glass windows for churches throughout Scotland. He illustrated Liz Lochhead’s The Colour of Black and White: Poems 1984-2003 and designed the award-winning Scottish Historical Playing Cards commissioned by the Stirling Gallery in 1974. The set depicts 12 prominent historical Scottish figures and John Knox and Adam Smith as the two jokers
