This work was commissioned as part of our Children’s Project. Learmont worked with a group of children in hospital to find out what kind of art they wanted to see. Many of the children that she spoke to expressed a wish to see more yellow in the hospital. “I listened to the children’s ideas about their favourite places and activities, and I incorporated these in my paintings.”
“I couldn’t really think of a better way to exhibit my paintings, I really liked the thought that they were going to a healthcare setting where they might cheer somebody up, make them feel better when they were in a difficult situation.”
