“I was drawn to make these two pieces as I’ve had two bouts of heavy menstrual bleeding a year. The second bleed lasted 6 weeks and I was largely trapped at home due to the quantities and speed of the bleeding. I became very anaemic.
It took a year from the first bleed to finally see a Gynaecologist and I’m now on another waiting list of 3 months for a hysteroscopy (camera to look inside a womb).
Since I’ve been talking about my experiences, so many people have shared stories about menstrual issues accessing timely help. Although all the doctors I have seen have been so helpful and compassionate there is a real systemic issue with access to gynaecological services.”
