We are into year 2 of our Taking Art Home project; providing online workshops for adults in Scotland living with long COVID and other long term health conditions such as Arthritus, Fibromiyalgia and ME who find it very difficult to leave the house.
As part of these we are taking the outside into people’s homes with ‘on location’ workshops. This might include visiting art galleries or being in out in nature or the built environment and encouraging people to sketch along. We are working with filmmaker Matt Robinson on these sessions and he’s been filming Taking Art Home Artist Jeni Allison the last few weeks in Fife and Edinburgh capturing birdsong or making drawing inspired by the collection.
Here is what one of our participants said about the sessions last year:
“Taking Art Home have become my main source of comfort, both mentally and physically. For the first time I was able to work through brain fog andfollow instructions for a whole hour. The classes have given me the knowledge and skills I can take forward to practice whenever I need to relax and recuperate. I now have hobbies I love and that I am able to do, that help me express how I am feeling, and feel that I am still useful and able to create something beautiful, despite my disability”
