This week is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek – the theme this year is anxiety. Mental Health Foundation found in a recent survey that 73% of the population felt anxious at some point in the last 2 weeks and that 20% felt anxious most or all of the time.

Art making can be a great way of quietening the mind and bringing you into the present to help with the symptoms of anxiety. Take 5 mins out your day to watch our artist Leo take you through a quick technique to draw 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can feel / touch, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste. Do it yourself at some point this week – how did it make you feel? #ToHelpMyAnxiety

Although it’s useful this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek to look at different techniques #ToHelpMyAnxiety – it is a much wider issue. As @mentalhealthfoundation recommends: “We can’t tackle anxiety by only focusing on remedies for individuals. National and local policymakers must prioritise actions to promote good mental health for all and to reduce anxiety, particularly for people at the highest risk of experiencing persistent and overwhelming anxiety”.
