Scottish Year of Stories – Sharing Stories through Art and Poetry

During May and June we are delighted to be delivering View Points: Sharing Stories through Art and Poetry in partnership with the Scottish Poetry Library. Our theme is stories inspired by nature and landscape and we will focus activities on artworks from our collection that are currently on display in health and social care settings. This project is a fantastic way for us to reconnect with organisations and audiences that we have had limited access to for the last couple of years because of COVID. We are looking forward to delivering twelve in-person poetry and visual art workshops over the next two months.

We have invited four poets and four visual artists to respond to specific art works and to encourage individuals to ‘look again’ at in-situ works. The idea is that these very familiar works will come ‘alive’ in a new way through this programme of activity.

We are excited to be working with poets Helen Boden, Vicki Husband, Aoife Lyall and Jane McKie. The four visual artists leading workshops are Ursula Bevan-Hunter, Christine Cochrane, Elena Harris and Kate Temple.

We will be working across Scotland in Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Sutherland.

This programme has been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.
