Dementia Friendly Tour of our Exhibition

Our recent fundraising exhibition at the Arusha Gallery in Dundas Street, Edinburgh included a dementia friendly tour for a community group from Penicuik.  The artist leading the tour, Olivia Irvine, worked with the group for 16 weeks and an exhibition of the work produced by the participants was presented at Penicuik Library in March 2018.  The art workshop project was supported by Foundation Scotland and the Cora Foundation.  Olivia was delighted to meet with the group again to explore the works of art on display in Edinburgh.  The Art in Healthcare fundraising exhibition was made possible due to sponsorship from BTO Solicitors LLP for a third year.  This year the company are also supporting the charity to develop a range of projects for people living with dementia.  The tour of the exhibition was the first of these projects.  Work will start shortly to develop a dementia art resource pack with artist Heather Lucchesi and the Eric Liddell Centre.  Another project in Paisley will involve displaying works of art from the extensive Art in Healthcare collection at a care home where a programme of art workshops will also take place.  As part of their commitment to corporate social responsibility, BTO Solicitors LLP will be providing staff in Glasgow with the opportunity to attend art workshops and become a volunteer at the care home when the art workshops take place later this year.
