The artist calls this 'Untitled' so we are not given clues about what to look for. One way of looking at the print is to enjoy the freedom to see whatever we like without being given directions. The abstract shapes could suggest many different things to different people. The dark shape seems strong and dominant and perhaps this is the centre of attention. The colours have a transparency and appear to be overlaid on top of one another. They are mostly soft blues and greys with one small area of warm, greenish yellow. Something atmospheric is suggested; the possibility that we could be looking beneath a surface or glimpsing something which is not fully revealed.
Fiona Purvis graduated from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen in 1997. The print 'Untitled' was purchased from the Degree Show exhibition. A piece of her work is held in the Collection of the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust.
