Edward Gage was widely known as an artist and as an art critic for the Scotsman and as an illustrator for a number of publications, including Radio Times. The Mediterranean milieu went on to inspire much of Gage’s work. He taught at Fettes College Edinburgh, Napier College and the Edinburgh College of Art. He was president of the Scottish Society of Artists from from 1960 to 1964 and in 1992 he made an MBE for services to Scottish art.
