In this oil on canvas work, the artist Emily Learmont depicts the scene of a Christening Party, combining nature and the theatrical. We see people gathered under a colourful tree during what seems to be a festival. Sunflowers and blue skies surround. Emily uses delicate washes of paint, creating intricate details with a fine brush and adding finishing touches of gold and silver. The result is colourful, vibrant and uplifting.
Many of Emily's works are about watching the world.
"In the same way that someone would re-tell a story my imagination would sometimes take over and the cumulative effects of thoughts and memories would make careful perspective seem unnecessary."
